Passport Journey (Part II)

My passport journey hasn’t been easy by far. Why is that? Well, I went to the immigration on the day I applied, February 13, with a really happy feeling. I got my schedule at 10 o’clock, but I decided to go there 45min before. Once I arrived, it was still 9.30 in the morning and I had to fill in some forms. It took me awhile to complete all the forms, and after everything’s done I handed it in to the registration desk.

The woman at the registration desk then checks all my documents whilst asking my occupation in Yogyakarta. I answered it truthfully that I am now working here. She asked for either my office ID card or recommendation letter from work. Unfortunately, I didn’t have any of them at that time. She said it’s okay if I didn’t bring it yet today, then she gave me 5 working days max to come back with recommendation letter.

It upsets me, to be honest. But I can’t do anything at that moment, cos I haven’t got my permanent ID card and I didn’t know if I can ask for recommendation letter from work since I only been two months in this company. Soon after the ‘rejection’, I went home to get some sleep to forget the pain :”)

I didn’t get any clue if I can get the letter, but I’m just this curious girl that I decided to ask one of the HRs if I can get it. He said I better ask to the manager for it. I was like… What? No no. Not gonna do that. I haven’t even signed my contract yet… So, asking the manager is out of the choice.

That time around, I almost gave up, till yesterday. We got told to sign our contract in the evening, and I got an idea to ask about this recommendation letter to another HR. After handed in the contract, I asked this other HR if I can get the letter. Guess what?? He said, YES I CAN! OMG. I swear to God, it was happiest moment of the day! Just when I almost cancel my plan, life comes with another answer.

Now I gotta wait for the right time to get recommendation letter and re-schedule my application in immigration… (to be continue)
